More photos have been released of Britain's most recent prime minister visiting Macclesfield.

Last Friday, Rishi Sunak met local farmers in Macclesfield, when he paid a visit to Rowlinson's Farm in Gawsworth.

The Conservative leader met with David Rutley, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Macclesfield.

Nub News reported on the visit last week, but now more photos have been released.

During the visit, Mr Sunak went on a tour of the farm by owners Mike and Rachel Rowlinson.

He learned about their work as dairy, beef and sheep farmers and the investments they have made to enhance their operations. Mr Sunak was also able to take time to bottle-feed some of their lambs.

The farm is located on Woodhouse End Road, Gawsworth.

Local farmers then held a question and answer session with Mr Sunak, seated on hay bales in one of the barns. They discussed how important it is for the government to focus on producing food here in the UK in what Mr Rutley's campaign describes as 'a time of uncertainty in the world'. Other issues included the progress being made with environmental land management schemes and initiatives to encourage the next generation of young farmers to get involved in agriculture.

Mr Sunak told the farmers about his recent second 'UK Farm to Fork Summit', and praised David's work with local farmers over the years and his support for rural communities.

After the visit David Rutley said, "Farmers play a vital role in our communities. I am very pleased that the prime minister could meet local farmers here in Macclesfield and set out his clear commitment to farming and food security, and recognise their huge contribution to the rural economy and our countryside."

David Rutley is one of seven candidates who want to be elected as Macclesfield's next MP.

Others standing ahead of the July 4 election in alphabetical order by surname are Reform Party (Stephen Broadhurst), Liberal Democrat's (Neil Christian), Social Democratic Party (Dickie Fletcher), Green Party (Amanda Iremonger), Labour (Tim Roca), and Independent (Christopher Wellavize).

Elsewhere in General Election News, Chris Wellavize will launch his campaign at Prestbury Plant and Garden, this Sunday June 9, 3pm.

The Green Party has launched a crowdfunder to campaign in their four Cheshire East constituencies.

The Liberal Democrats tweeted about why they believe their policies make their candidate the one for the job.

A biography webpage recently launched for Reform candidate Stephen Broadhurst.

Labour hopeful Tim Roca attended D-Day celebrations at both Macclesfield Town Hall and Prestbury.

The SDP candidate revealed what he thought of a vote for one of the traditional 'three main parties'.

Neil Christian, Tim Roca, David Rutley, Dickon Fletcher and Chris Wellavize also attended a public meeting about the potential closure of Bollington Library.
