The most recent Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has visited Macclesfield for the first time.

It comes just one day after parliament was dissolved.

Rishi Sunak spoke with Macclesfield Conservative Association at a cow farm in Macclesfield, with the Conservative candidate David Rutley.

The high-profile visit comes just three days after Lord Cameron, another former Conservative Prime Minister visited Macclesfield.

David Rutley MP is one of seven candidates running in the 2024 UK General Election.

David Rutley said: "Farmers play a vital role in our communities. Very pleased that Rishi Sunak could meet local farmers in Macclesfield and set out his clear commitment to farming and food security, and recognise their huge contribution to the rural economy and our countryside."

The next general election in Macclesfield will see the following candidates: Green Party (Amanda Iremonger), Labour (Tim Roca), the Liberal Democrats (Neil Christian), and the Social Democratic Party (Dickie Fletcher), Independent (Chris Wellavize) and Conservatives (David Rutley),  have already announced their candidates for Macclesfield.

Following two high-profile Conservative visits to Macclesfield in a week, there is now just 34 days until the General Election.
