Macclesfield's current Mayor has shared a Christmas message to readers of Macclesfield Nub News.

Mayor Christopher Wilcock, Broken Cross and Upton Ward Councillor for Macclesfield Town Council has this to say, looking back on this year's success, and ahead towards 2024.

"Dear people of Macclesfield," he wrote.

"My time as Mayor so far has been exactly as I had imagined, full of opportunities to meet the people that are at the heart of Macclesfield, whether at a business, school or community group. Your dedication to what you do keeps the town going.

"This year has seen many events organised by the Town Council, some new like the lantern parade and 'Do Something Summer' and old favourites like 'Step Into Christmas' and as we look to next year we are aiming high once again to support our residents with fun filled, free events.

"Christmas time can be full of joy with friends and family but it can also be difficult with issues such as bereavement or loneliness. If you know someone who may be struggling please call round or direct them to organisations that can offer help.

"Finally, wherever you are today or whatever you are doing, I wish you a merry Christmas and peaceful new year.

"Let's all Live Macclesfield, Love Macclesfield in 2024!"

Chris will be Mayor until May 2023. His chosen charities are East Cheshire Hospice and the East Cheshire Eye Society.
