As things start to wind down for the year, we reach a sort of lull period in new things opening on our high street.

But there's plenty to look forward to in our town in 2024.

Here is four new openings or events to look forward to in Macclesfield over the next 12 months.

New Kids Theatre

A new performing arts firm for little ones will launch in 2024.

CarneyAcademy, who already have a Cheshire site in Sandbach, will launch in Macclesfield in January.

Aimed at kids aged 7+, they'll teach acting and performance skills.

The new Macclesfield venture is run by film, television and West End director Ruth Carney, with lessons taught by professional actor David Gregan-Jones.

They are offering 20% as a launch offer for new sign-ups.

Charity Expansion with Another Central Macclesfield Site

A Macclesfield animal charity is to fill a vacant building in Macclesfield.

Sutton good cause Windyway Trust - who already have two charity shops on Chestergate, will have a third site for bulkier items that can't fit in their current shops.

This means there's even more chance to find a bargain on pre-loved furniture and electronics in Macclesfield, while supporting a good cause.

This new site will be in the old Dulux building on Churchill Way, and operate similar to how Age UK's furniture showroom operated until it shut last year. (Or Sue Ryder's does now).

The opening date will be Saturday January 6, 2024, and be opened by a special guest.

Hospice Expansion

Elsewhere in local charity news, East Cheshire Hospice will introduce more new state-of-the art facilities next year.

"he new Sunflower Wellbeing Centre will be a valuable resource for the community, being able to accommodate local support groups and other community activities.

The cost of the refurbishment is £1,252,333. And will be ready in January. Read more HERE.

What will fill Bluedot-shaped hole?

Macclesfield's music festival Bluedot is having a year off in 2024.

That is because of the heavy rainfall, which led to Sunday day tickets being cancelled last summer.

So to give the field time to rest, the festival is in a fallow year, but opens a massive opportunity for Macclesfield event organisers to fill the gap.

The Festival is usually held in July. It remains to be seen if any replacement near Jodrell Bank, or another site will take its place.

Could this see a bolstered line-up to Party in the Pews in May, or Rewind in September.

The former Macclesfield music festival already has Manchester band The Slow Readers Club and Neville Staple of The Specials confirmed.

Could we expect more big names? Or even a new event coming to Macc, with the lack of Bluedot?
