A Macclesfield building firm has helped The Silkmen during difficult times

By James Kelly 19th May 2020

Builders' merchants Travis Perkins has provided free materials for The Silkmen to carry out essential maintenance at the Moss Rose ground.

A Macclesfield Town Football Club spokesman said: "Although we are unsure of when football will return to the Moss Rose, we are currently doing our best to carry out as many maintenance jobs around the ground that we can.

"One of these was to remove the goalposts and re-secure them in place using a mixture of concrete and sand.

"We were therefore delighted when Travis Perkins, on Hurdsfield Road in Macclesfield, donated all the materials needed to us free of charge and even delivered them to us pretty much instantly."

The goal frames in front of the John Askey Terrace are now completed, with the Star Lane End structures set for an overhaul at the start of next week.

"Everyone at the club would like to thank Travis Perkins for their help with this - we are truly grateful for their amazing generosity," added the spokesman.
