Adlington campaigners spell out important message as opposition to development continues

Adlington residents came together to spell out an important message.
The village hosted a small festival on Saturday, April 18, as part of the Community Planning Alliance's day of action to raise awareness of the continued decline of farming, wildlife, and nature across the UK.
Although the chance of a new town has significantly declined following the government's announcement in March, developers are still keen to push forward housing schemes in the area.
Organiser Kasim Awan said: "We remain very much on the front foot.
"We are in critical time to ensure smaller developments, in the order of 500 to 2,000 houses, are not ushered in as a 'second best' to the new town.
"Belport state they 'are ready to assist government and the region in delivering new home ambitions'.
"We already know the price bracket means these homes will likely remain that - an 'ambition' for most young people, whilst brownfield sites in inner Manchester and Macclesfield would remain dormant. "

Asim continued: "We must continue to oppose, as any smaller development would not only be out of reach for young people and aspiring house buyers, but also sacrifice the brilliant green belt that supports some of the most diverse wildlife in the country.
"Any further proposal will be met with the same resilience, alongside our allies, Tim Roca MP, Cheshire Wildlife Trust, the CPRE, the many local town and parish councils.
"Also, Cheshire East council, who have opposed the new town. We hope Cheshire East also oppose any smaller developments, that would still have significant negative effects on the area."
As part of Saturday's festival, attendees formed a 'people poster' spelling out the words 'No New Town!'.
