New Macclesfield Archdeacon Jane Proudfoot makes first school visit
Archdeacon of Macclesfield, Jane Proudfoot, visited Pott Shrigley Church School to deliver a harvest worship with the school children, staff, governors and parents.
The visit is the first to a school by Archdeacon Jane since she was licenced at Chester Cathedral on April 28.
The children of Pott Shrigley Church School were invited to sing at the Welcome Service at St. Paul's Church, Macclesfield in June.
As a thank you Jane promised to visit the school to share in a special worship during the new school year. And now, she has come true to her promise.
Archdeacon Jane's visit focussed on the values of kindness and love and the fruit that is within us all with the message 'Taste and See that the Lord is Good.'
After worship Jane visited all three classes during maths to see the children at work and took time to speak with the children and staff during her visit.
At the close of the visit Archdeacon Jane dressed in her robes to show the children and thanked them for the beautiful singing earlier in the year.
"It was a true pleasure to have the children to sing at my welcome service and I've been really looking forward to coming to Pott Shrigley," said the Archdeacon.
"It is my first school visit since I took on the Macclesfield Archdeaconry and what a place to start! Pott Shrigley is such a warm and inclusive school where the needs of every individual child are met. Every pupil is cared for and enabled to flourish."

Jane follows Bishop Ian Bishop, Bishop of Thetford who served as Archdeacon of Macclesfield from 2011 to 2023.
Jane is originally from east Lancashire. Before becoming a vicar, she was a teacher of religious studies at Sandbach and Knutsford high schools.
She then became the first Homelessness officer for Warrington Borough Council.
The married mum-of-two is a big lover of music. She's also a regular at the annual Creamfields dance festival in Daresbury where she has been leading 'We are the Church at Creamfields' since 2017.
The Archdeaconry of Macclesfield geographic area covers a population of 800,000 people.
Headteacher Anne-Marie Willis was thrilled by the visit to Pott Shrigley.
"It is such an honour for our small school to welcome Archdeacon Jane," she said.
"We've been looking forward to it all term and today has been a wonderful celebration which culminated with a fabulous rendition of the current favourite song Harvest Samba.
"Thank you, Jane for your visit and we wish you continued success in your role as Archdeacon."
