Arrest made as armed police called to reports of man with a machete in Macclesfield

Armed police were spotted in Macclesfield following reports of a man with a machete.
Cheshire Police were alerted to reports of a man, possibly armed with a knife, on Roe Street at 8.30pm on Friday, January 16.
While no weapons were found, Jack Coyne was subsequently arrested and charged with use of threatening and abusive language.
A spokesperson for the force said: "Local officers, supported by firearms officers attended, and a 28-year-old local man was arrested.
"No weapons were located.
"Jack Coyne, has since been charged with use of threatening and abusive language with intent to provoke unlawful violence.
"Coyne, of Pembroke Road, Macclesfield, has been bailed to appear at Crewe Magistrates Court on February 20, 2026."
