An assault suspect was arrested following a manhunt involving a police helicopter.

Dale Thompson, of Garden Street in Macclesfield, is due to appear at Warrington Magistrates Court on Tuesday, March 17.

It comes after the 32-year-old was arrested following reports of a domestic incident in the Knight Street area at 6.50pm on Sunday, March 15.

Officers attended the scene and carried out a search of the area to locate the suspect, supported by a police helicopter.

The helicopter was seen circling the skies of Macclesfield for at least two hours.

Thompson was eventually found in the Brocklehurst Avenue area at around 7.45am the following morning - Monday, March 16,

He was subsequently charged with one count of assault and remanded in custody to appear at court on Tuesday.
