A Macclesfield man has won an award for his voluntary work.

Adam Hipwell has won volunteer of the year award by a local charity.

Macclesfield FC Community Sports Trust, which has five volunteers, provides football sessions in the community for people of all ages.

The charity is older than Macclesfield FC, having been in operation since 1997.

The Rossendale Trust partner with local businesses and charities to give their tenants a flavour of the working world, in what is dubbed 'The WorkTaste Programme'. Adam's altruism, is part of that.

Adam, lives at Macclesfield charity The Rossendale Trust, volunteers once a week at the Macclesfield FC Community Sports Trust sessions held at Macclesfield FC's ground.

He helps out at the Community Sports Trust as thanks to the Rossendale's 'WorkTaste' scheme.

From distributing kit and equipment, to co-organising competitions, Adam's dedication has been rewarded with an award ceremony at Macclesfield Town Hall.

"I enjoy going to work every Wednesday and I am very happy to have been given this special award," said Adam.

Lee Folkard who has been Head of Community Sports Trust since April 2021, spoke fondly of of The Rossendale Trust tenant.

"Adam is a breath of fresh air every week and always smiling," said Lee.

Lee and Adam with the gong.

"He is an integral part of our team and a deserved winner of the volunteer of the year award."
