A Bollington community hero is resurrecting a popular community event.

Ben Moorhouse, who was awarded Freedom of the Town earlier this year, has announced plans to host a Remembrance charity concert.

Taking place at Bollington Civic Hall on Saturday, November 7, the evening will help to raise money for the Poppy Appeal and the SSAFA.

Ben said: "Both charities are immensely important to the whole forces community, providing support, help with finding housing and assistance with the transition from service to civilian life, which can be unbelievably difficult.

"It is a great privilege being able to support the work these charities do, which in turn will help more people within the forces community.

"I too am a member of the Royal Air Force, and I'm all too aware that my family or I may need to lean on these charities at some point in the future.

"Without funding from events like this, these charities will not be able to continue to do their amazing work."

Music will be performed by Newcastle-under-Lyme Community Orchestra, with a hot pot supper included as part of the £17 ticket.

There will also be a range of drinks and cakes for sale, as well as a raffle with some fantastic prizes.

Ben added: "The Remembrance concert was always something that people looked forward to.

"It was an uplifting contrast from the sombre remembrance service. The two events complemented each other very well.

"People will be able to enjoy an evening of fantastic music, food and drink with friends in the knowledge that their contribution will be supporting two great charities."

He added: "I am very excited to be able to do this!

"It is something I have wanted to do for a while and it's taken a lot of time and effort to get it organised.

"It promises to be a fantastic evening."
