Bollington: Electric car chargers approved at Grade II-listed mill
A Victorian-era mill in Bollington is getting some 21st century tech.
That's because Cheshire East Council have approved plans for electric car charging ports to come to Clarence Mill.
The former cotton spinning mill, which spans five storeys, is now a multi-purpose building. It houses a café, radio station, and residential units.
But it is the offices at UNIT BG 5-8 which will benefit from the electric car charging ports, at the Clarence Road site.
Four posts are to be installed later this year, to allow electric vehicle users to charge their cars while they work.
The parking spaces are thought to be used by marketing employees at the Clarence Mill company Stein IAS.
No new car parking spaces have been created.
A planning document stated: "EV charging posts will be situated at the end of the parking bays. The power supply to the posts will be supplied by cables situate underground and pass through the external wall of the mill via an existing underground service duct.
"The posts will be approx 1.7metres high by 350mm wide and 135mm deep. A steel barrier will be located in front of the posts to protect the posts from being hit by vehicles."
"Cables will not be visible," it added.
The news comes just days after it was revealed how many electric vehicles both Cheshire Police and Cheshire East Council have.
