Five animals from RSPCA Macclesfield that need a new home
One per month, Macclesfield Nub News rounds-up the latest animals needing rehoming in the local area.
Today, we have a pair of inseparable bunnies, to a dog who has had a ruff time.
But first up, we have to discuss the life of Pablo.
Pablo is a male Domestic shorthair cat currently being fostered in our town since January 6.
He'll turn two this April. And thrives despite his condition of a heart murmur.
"Pablo's former owner was struggling with mental health," said RSPCA Macclesfield.
"Their living conditions were quite poor and filthy, as identified following a complaint.
"He lived with another cat, a female, which gave birth to three kittens while in the lady's care; they, sadly, all died from a flea infestation. This is something we struggle to comprehend and is very upsetting to say the least.
"The cats didn't get on with each other in the home, so Pablo would spend most of his time outside avoiding the female."
"Pablo was already microchipped and neutered when he came in. He has been health checked several times, wormed/flead and vaccinated. The heart murmur was checked again but he was purring so loudly it couldn't be detected!
"He would make a great family cat but for children over ten we think. There won't be a dull day with him as part of your family. With that face, how could anyone not want him?
"If you'd be interested in sharing your home with this super lad, please contact our Rehoming Co-ordinator on [email protected] or leave a message on 07846 539500."
Alphie
A male mutt who has just turned one, Alphie is after the hearts of one Macclesfield home.
His previous owner is elderly and had too many animals they could handle, so they were running feral and burrowing under junk for shelter.
"Looking for a companion for your canine member of the family? Look no further because Alfie really does shine when in the company of his own species," said RSPCA Macclesfield.
"Alfie is the responsibility of our branch but housed at the RSPCA centre in Chesterfield. He came into private boarding under the National Society three months ago and has been waiting all this time for a space with a rehoming branch. We are privileged to be able to help Alfie in his time of need.
"He is fully vaccinated, we've had him microchipped and neutered.
"Alfie has not had a normal upbringing so he really does need someone who has the time, understanding, dedication, and patience among all things to let him come into his own in the big wide world in his own time and at his own pace."
Fluffy and Jack
Young rabbits Fluffy and Jack are crossbreed bunnies after a new place to live.
Currently boarded at Rode Heath, they are seeking a home in Macclesfield, South East Cheshire or Buxton.
They came into the RSPCA's care one month ago today.
Both male, and believed to be brothers, they are inquisitive little creatures.
RSPCA Macclesfield said: "This colourful pair of boys originally came in via RSPCA Inspectors back in December 2020.
"They were temporarily being cared for but the owner never came back for them, the person looking after them couldn't take care of them long term. They were originally kept together but started fighting when with the lady. So, we had them neutered (vaccinated and MC) then Rebecca, who owns the boarding facility, spent several weeks bonding them and they are now reunited and fully bonded! What a mean feat considering they are both males, but they are brothers and we had them neutered which is critical!
"They were adopted in February 2021 – they had a wonderful home and a spacious set up, but sadly they've been returned because their owners favoured their weekend trips away in the motorhome; the neighbours couldn't continue to see to Fluffy and Jack and the idea of a pet sitter visiting to them wasn't favourable.
"They like to come close for petting. Dislikes are being picked up (like almost all rabbits) but will sit on your lap when being fed leaves."
Twister
Ready to enjoy his twilight years, this adorable eight-year-old cat arrived in the care of RSPCA Macclesfield 34 days ago.
The male Domestic shorthair kitty needs a very special home to accommodate his needs.
He had a stint in Birmingham animal hospital laster november, suffering various ailments but that means he has had all his vaccines chips and neutering.
Twister is FIV positive and has a head tilt so needs to be a house cat BUT we know he would love to have a secure outdoor area he can potter about and explore (supervised) once he's acclimatised to his surroundings. A cat loves nothing more than to experience what the outdoors has to offer.
Horner's Syndrome was thought to be a cause of the head tilt through previous trauma to the head, hence the fractured teeth. Middle ear infection/previous ruptured ear drum wasn't ruled out either.
