A new service from a Bollington charity has won plaudits from Macclesfield's Member of Parliament.

Earlier this year, Palmerston Street charity The Bridgend Centre launched a new service called Shuttle to the Shops.

The service takes members of the community who were unable to drive to supermarkets and retail parks.

The service, which runs every other Wednesday, costs just £4 per person. The destinations are on a rota basis, which can be seen alongside the pickup locations on the Centre's website.

Wow.

Macclesfield MP David Rutley, met with Rebecca Lea, Centre Manager, and Maxine Lomas, Community Worker, to discuss the new project.

Speaking after the meeting, David said "From talking to local residents, I know that Shuttle to the Shops, will be a real asset to those who are not easily able to get around."

"I am very grateful to the Bridgend Centre for taking forward this important scheme, which is already being well-used."

"The range of activities and groups on offer at the Centre is fantastic and provides vital support in our local communities.

"I hope many local residents also get involved in the [upcoming] Bridgend Bake Off – I wish all participants every success in the competition!"

The bi-weekly event, funded by Cheshire Community Action, can also be supported by the public's donations.

Members of the Co-op supermarket can also choose to raise money for The Bridgend Centre, more info on that HERE.
