An orange B&Q lorry made its way to the Macclesfield area this week to surprise local schoolboy and lorry super fan Freddie.
Following a request from Freddie for a toy replica of a B&Q lorry, the home improvement brand sent one of its real orange branded lorries to Freddie's school, Bollington Cross C of E School, so he could have a chance to sit inside and see one up close.
Freddie, who has recently turned six, uses Makaton signing and a communication book to communicate, and has just begun saying repetitive words – one of which is B&Q.
The lorry arrived at Freddie's school on Wednesday morning, and Freddie and other students had the opportunity to climb into the lorry and have their photos taken with it.
Freddie also received the toy replica of the lorry that he had wished for.
Freddie's support worker at Bollington Cross C of E School, Pam Odell, who made contact with B&Q to ask for a replica B&Q lorry for Freddie, said: "I have been overwhelmed with the response from B&Q."
"Sam and Yuonne have gone beyond boundaries to make a dream come true for Freddie. His passion and memory with trucks is a pleasure to experience and I am sure he will remember this day forever.
"A very big thank you to all involved in organising this all for Freddie."
B&Q have one store in Macclesfield, on Statham Street.
Sam Leese, store manager from B&Q Macclesfield, who organised the lorry visit said: "My store and colleagues from across the business were really touched by Freddie's request for a replica B&Q lorry.
"We wanted to go a step further and bring a real one to him.
"It was a pleasure to see how happy Freddie was to see the lorry, and to be able to give him his own toy B&Q lorry too!"
As part of the visit, and, with its logistics partners, GXO and Wincanton, B&Q provided a road safety talk for the children which is part of its community work that regularly support child safety education in schools engaging students with an up close experience of a lorry.
A B&Q Spokesperson added: "The visits are part of B&Qs commitment to being a more responsible business.
"Its goal is to continue making changes to improve as a business and help build a better world for its customers, colleagues and communities.
