Bridget Jones, Chewbacca and sausage rolls battle it out in the 2025 Macclesfield Pancake Race

What do Bridget Jones, Chewbacca and sausage rolls have in common?
No this isn't the setup to a Christmas cracker joke but a description of the 2025 Macclesfield Pancake Race.
Teams representing local businesses and organisations took part in the popular annual event, raising money for East Cheshire NHS Charity.
Aislinn O'Dwyer, the charity's chair, said: "Thank you to all of the participants.
"It's always a great, fun, event in aid of a special cause.
"The charity is there to provide additional support for patients, families and the staff within the trust.
"It's the extra things we can give which make a stay in hospital that little bit better."

She added: "It does make a difference so please don't hesitate to dig deep.
"I appreciate it's hard times for people but if you have a little to put in the tin then please do.
"It's been a great event and we look forward to seeing you again soon."
Aislinn added her thanks to Silk Radio for providing the music, the Rotary Club for volunteering as marshals and Macclesfield Town Council for allowing the charity to use Market Place and Mill Street to host the race.

The action got underway at midday on Shrove Tuesday (March 4), with 19 teams signed up to take part.
That included representatives from The Castle pub, Holy Trinity Church, Specsavers, and Bollington Brewing.
Coming out on top in the racing was Lovelive, a creative agency based on Davenport Street.
There was also a prize for best fancy dress, which went to the Star Wars-inspired team made up of Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Han Solo and a Tusken Raider.
