A new car dealership has opened right in the heart of Macclesfield.

RJS Car Sales is up and running on Samuel Street.

The one-man operation is run by car fanatic Rick James Sherry, who has just one thing on his mind when he steps into the office.

"For me it is all about good customer service," he said.

"You want the customer's trust, you need quality cars and good after service.

"I want them to go away happy that they have made the right decision.

"I'm not going to be pushing them to a car they don't want to buy, I want them to make the decision on their own."

Rick, who has lived in Macclesfield most of his life, has always worked in the automotive industry.

Starting out in car hire with Avis, Rick worked his way up to a manager role based in Liverpool.

He later started Expedition Mini Coaches, a wheelchair access minibus company, before selling up last year.

This gave him the time to focus on his car selling business full time, having started trading from home around eight years ago

"I really enjoyed doing it but just didn't have the time to apply myself to it fully," he said.

"So, it was sort of on and off over the years but now I've had a little bit of a break and really looking forward to kicking on."

Asked why now was the perfect time, Rick said: "I saw these premises come up and I thought, 'why not, let's go for it!'

"It's now or never really!"

RJS Car Sales officially opened for business on Monday, September 22.

On display you will find a selection of around eight vehicles handpicked by Rick, ranging in price from £1,500 to £8,000.

All of the vehicles are rigorously inspected by a qualified mechanic and come with service history, a maximum of three previous owners and an MOT from six to 12 months.

While it's still early days, Rick has been pleasantly surprised with the footfall so far.

"I've been really surprised by the number of people walking past, quite a lot stepping in to have a chat," he said.

"It's not all about making a sale on the day. It's just letting people know that we are here for when they do need something."

Rick added: "I'm very excited to be open.

"I've always had an interest in cars. It's always nice to get a different car I've not had before.

"And more than that, I just like dealing with the public and talking to people."

RJS Car Sales is open from 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and from 10am to 4pm on Saturdays.
