A globally-known band from Macclesfield have released another single ahead of their sophomore album.

16-19 - Why You Lacking Energy? is the sixth single released ahead of their second album of a similar name.

New single '16-18 (Why You Lacking Energy?' arrives alongside a technicolour video and provides another look into the visual world in which the album exists.

Starting at the point where the video for single Motions left-off, Cassia stumbles upon an oasis.

Lou, Rob and Jake of Cassia. All grew up in Macclesfield, but now live abroad recording groovy indie music together.

The video depicts the band indulging in energy drinks, feeling high and satiated, which is in stark contrast to its predecessor where the trio are passed out on a beach, drained of energy from information overload and with their hopes pinned on a can of energy drink - which is a metaphor carried throughout the LP hinting at how we consume and over-consume when available to us.

The Macclesfield band comprises lead singer and guitarist Rob Ellis from Prestbury, bassist Lou Cotterill from the Moss Estate, and Tytherington drummer Jake Leff.

Rob spoke candidly about the new track.

"This song is about being obsessed with how shiny the past looks and is based around a series of daydreams I kept having all set between the ages of 16-18." Rob described.

"I think at the time I wished that I could just go back, cause in my head it just seemed easier."

With dreamy keys, a slow tempo and inquisitive vocal delivery, the tune does conjure a feeling of looking back.

The band describe themselves as 'catchy indie rock which ensures endless retreads'.

Their distinctive brand of idiosyncratic lyrics and instant hooks are steeped in substance, a feat which continues with the new single.

The single is self-produced, and opens with sugary-layered vocals announcing the song's title. A declaration greeted atop fuzzed guitars and melodic keys.

Then, symbols susurrate as frontman Rob's smooth and precise voice takes the listener on a ride of nostalgia and a yearning for the simplicity of his younger years.

The release is placed third in the tracklist for the album Why You Lacking Energy, which is released to the world on July 15.

Cassia's second album will release on July 15 2022. Upcoming local gigs include Manchester in October, and in Matlock at late July's Ynot Festival.
