The Grosvenor Centre is up for sale.
Macclesfield's shopping centre is set to be sold at auction next month.
It is not yet clear what exactly the future has in store for the site, however, Cheshire East Council say they are 'looking forward' to working with the new owners.
Councillor Michael Gorman, chair of the council's economy and growth committee, said: "Macclesfield has seen many changes in recent times in terms of the town's retail offer.
"Retail is changing nationally, and we are not excluded from this: change is inevitable.
"We are looking forward to engaging with the new owners of the shopping centre when they are known and I am sure like us, they will be keen to encourage their investment in the centre, so we can collaborate.
"Exciting businesses such as Pandero Lounge and Gails have moved to the town and then of course, we are nearing completion on the refurbishment of Macclesfield Market Hall, which has seen new traders move in and other stalls in the process of being filled."

It is understood that the council, local MP Tim Roca and the Grosvenor Centre's current tenants were informed of the impending sale on Tuesday, October 7.
Marketed by Savills, the Grosvenor centre is to be sold via auction with a guide price of £3,750,000.
Interested parties will be invited to place bids by November 5.
The listing says there are 'significant value-add opportunities through proactive leasing of vacant units and improving occupancy'.
It adds: "The Grosvenor Centre occupies a central location in the main retailing area, forming the town's dominant retail destination.
"It is complemented by surrounding high street locations such as Chester Gate, Mill Street and Market Place, providing a mix of independent and high street retailers."

The Grosvenor Centre is comprised of 12,224 square metres of retail accommodation across 39 units.
In 2018, the site underwent a £10 million refurbishment and extension.
This year, the indoor market operated by Cheshire East Council benefitted from a £1.2 million renovation.
Meanwhile, the tenancy schedule on the Savills listing states that Daniel Christian Menswear and Top Gift Limited will be opening stores at the Grosvenor Centre with lease start dates 'TBC'.
Ed Kennedy, manager of the Grosvenor Centre, has been contacted for further information about the sale.
