Coffee shop and drive-through plans at old Macclesfield pub withdrawn
By Belinda Ryan - Local Democracy Reporter 27th Oct 2026
An application to convert a former Macclesfield pub into a coffee shop and drive-through has been withdrawn.
The proposal to change the use of the Cock Inn at Henbury near Macclesfield was to have been considered by Cheshire East's northern planning committee on Thursday (October 29).
Planning officers had recommended the scheme for the pub, which has been vacant since 2024, be refused.
They said the proposed development would be detrimental to the safe and efficient operation of the highway, as the access adversely affects the free flow of traffic on Chelford Road.
They also said design was not adequate and would detract from the character and appearance of the area and there was not enough information provided to conclude there are no more suitable locations for the proposal.
The application was withdrawn by the applicant.
