A central Macclesfield pub has introduced a new zone for kids.

Old Millstone, of 66 Waters Green, has introduced a new area for children, to be children.

Publican Eli Fernihough explained what it was all about.

"We have a lot of families in and it's important to us that the kids get a nice experience too," said Eli.

"The families are loving the new space, and it's for older children aswell as younger children.

"This area is a cosy snug area and it's like relaxing in a lounge area comfortable for everyone.

"We've got a Xbox One and a PlayStation 4 which has been kindly donated for older children, and a colouring and a huge train station area for younger ones.

"We are also we are putting in a bookshelf with lots of books. Old Millstone is a community pub perfect for enjoying time with the family."

The new zone has been enjoyed by the target audience, and also their parents, with a post announcing the new space attracting 60 likes on Facebook.

The new project was also supported by Macclesfield Community Initiative - Children And Baby Library, which themselves received a bumper donation last week

The introduction of the zone is the latest community initiative that Eli has introduced. Recent positive changes at the pub for the community include a defibrillator, bleed control kit, and a sleep-out for a homeless charity.

"I'm motivated to helping my community because it has taught me that out there somewhere, something you take for granted is actually a precious thing to someone else," added Eli.

"Helping my community is an opportunity for me to grow as a person, I have a passion for giving if it's just giving my time it what you put into life, you get out of life what you put into it.

"I think pub operators must not forget the importance of serving the community, this should be for all ages and a fun safe corner for activities such as arts and crafts and table top play which is what we have created with this area.

"And thank you to the community of Macclesfield for all their support."

Old Millstone joins The Picturedrome in being a Macclesfield venue that now has a zone for children, as well as of course, spaces for families to come together.

Old Millstone is located on 66 Waters Green, Macclesfield SK11 6JZ
