There's good news for those who have missed having a brew during their visits to West Park.

That's because discussions are ongoing about a new operator of the West Park Café in Macclesfield.

And the prospective new café operator will be very familiar to Macclesfield.

Earlier this year, the West Park Café, along with a sister park coffee shop in Crewe faced an uncertain future.

That is as the operator went bust. But now, negotiations are ongoing with a new operator.

Cheshire East Council, who own and manage West Park, told Macclesfield Nub News: "The council recognises the importance of the cafés at Queens Park [Crewe] and West Park [Macclesfield] to visitors and our local communities and would like to address the concerns raised over the future of these cafés."

"The council is in negotiations with Everybody Health and Leisure for them to operate the cafés on a temporary basis, while we work to secure a new operator to take over both sites next year. This arrangement will allow Everybody to continue to run both facilities while this takes place."

"We will provide further details on the plans and timescales for both cafés in the coming weeks once these arrangements are finalised."

Everybody Health and Leisure, known locally for running both Macclesfield Leisure Centre and Crewe Leisure Centre, are set to reopen both sites if a deal is confirmed.

Both of these sites, also have on-site coffee shops, so they are no stranger to serving brews.

Everybody Health and Leisure - which is a Macclesfield Nub News sponsor - has been contacted for comment.

It wouldn't be the first time Everybody would operate a café in a building that they don't own. They also run the Taste for Life Café at Bollington Health and Leisure.

Friends of West Park has also been contacted by Macclesfield Nub News for comment.

A spokesman for Friends of West Park, who are actively seeking new members, said: "The café is the heart of our park, and to see it once again back open, that can't come fast enough."
