Crowdfunder launched for assaulted Macclesfield taxi driver
A taxi driver in Macclesfield was assaulted on November 4.
Silvertown Taxis driver Nabeel Akhtar was attacked while working and has his car stolen by an unknown assailant.
While Cheshire Police have not released anything officially on the weekend incident as of yet, Macclesfield Police officers did attend the incident according tho Silvertown Taxis.
Today (November 7), a crowdfunder has been set up to support Nabeel and his recovery from his injuries.
A colleague of his has started a GoFundMe page, which has already raised £215 of his £6,000 goal.
"I wanted to start this fundraiser for Nabeel, a taxi driver who was seriously attacked over the weekend," said Adam of Silvertown Employees.
"Nabeel's car was stolen and he was attacked violently and physically in a traumatic attack.
"He was left on the side of a country lane unconscious.
"His car was later recovered and written off, meaning he has also lost the main source of his income, something he will need to contend with when he recovers.
"This fundraiser will help Nabeel and his family a great deal whilst he is out of work, especially wither the onset of winter.
"Whether it is helping people get to work in the morning or making it home after a night out, taxi drivers provide a vital service to the public.
"Working all hours of the day, taxi drivers offer a lifeline to those without cars of their own or to those who don't have easy access to public transport.
"We would love your support in helping Nabeel get back on his feet after this traumatic incident and would appreciate any donation, no matter how small."
