The Mayor of Macclesfield's charity auction is just around the corner.

The Macclesfield auction will raise money for charities Macclesfield Roundtable and The Windyway Trust.

It will take place at Macclesfield Auctioneers Adam Partridge, at their Saleroom on Withyfold Drive, SK10 2BD.

The auction starts at 6pm on Thursday March 31.

Adam Partridge and the Mayor even produced a hilarious promotional video for the auction on social media.

Business across Macclesfield and beyond have donated items, which will be auctioned off in the hopes of raising thousands.

Companies which have donated to lots include Dominoes, One House Tearooms tea-for-two voucher and Michael Kors.

Other items up for auction is a Gallon of ale of Brook Street pub The Wharf, a drone worth £395, and a personal trainer session with LBD Fitness.

And as The Windyway Trust is an animal charity, a pet portrait voucher for £50 from a highly-regarded Macclesfield artist will also go under the hammer.

Adam, David, Chris and James will all be in attendance on the March 31 auction - as will Macclesfield Nub News - will you?

Last year's Mayoral auction raised £1000 for Macclesfield good causes.

Auctioneer Adam Partridge is looking forward to March's charity auction.

"I am delighted to be once again assisting the Mayor of Macclesfield to raise funds for his chosen charities this year in what has now become an annual tradition," he said.

"This year is of particular significance to me as one of the designated charities is The Windyway Trust, a fabulous local animal charity known and loved by many and of which I have had the honour of being Patron for many years.

The Windyway Trust - who have a pair of charity shops on Chestergate - will benefit from the Mayor's charity auction.

"I am grateful to the Mayor for choosing The Windyway Trust and hope to be able to raise plenty of much-needed funds.

"I urge everybody to participate in the event – you don't have to be familiar with auctions or even attend in person as we have the facility for people to participate due to the auction being streamed live online via our website.

"I would also like to sincerely thank all the local businesses and private individuals who have donated items or services to the auction. Let the bidding commence!"

He has also volunteered for The Windyway Trust for the past seven years.

"A story I often tell is that, in 1973, I clapped eyes on Macclesfield for the first time and bought a house for £500. "That is not strictly true," he said.

"As a child I was dragged round the Macc salerooms by my mother as she sought out bargains. She once bought me a beautiful Silver Cross pram that I cannibalised to make a stunning kartie. I only wanted the wheels! Who could forget the repartee of Mike Pickwell and his trusty 'Baldrick' known by all as Dewdrop?

"I'm really looking forward to this Charity Auction run by my friend and patron of Windyway, Adam Partridge (of Flog It TV fame).

"There will be around 50 lots donated by Windyway and local businesses.

"We will be raising funds for my two Mayor's Charities: Windyway and Macclesfield Round Table. It's never too late to donate items for sale and 'promises'.

"I am hoping to be allowed to don my brown coat and be Adam's Baldrick for the night!"

Christine Earles, has chaired The Windyway Trust since 2013, and has two shops on Chestergate.

She is looking forward to the auction, after the past two tough years of the pandemic.

"All charities have really struggled over COVID," she added.

"It is quite hard as a local charity as many of our volunteers are older and vulnerable. We did really struggle for a number of weeks as the shop was closed.

"We also had to redesign one of our shops for the two metre distance. We were lucky as we increased our e-commerce output to bring in some money. Half of our usual amount in 2020 was from online.

"Thank you to all the businesses who have donated, and those who will bid for the items."

Unlike the 2021 auction, people can go to the salesroom in person, as well as the auction being online.

The full auction catalogue will be posted in due course. Companies can still donate lots by getting in contact with any of the four pictured parties.
