A bus operator has rescued another route set to be ceased this month.

The Arriva No. 3 bus from Macclesfield town centre to the Weston estate was one of the last cut services yet to be scooped up, after Arriva North West announced they'd be shutting their Macclesfield depot and over 13 local routes.

But last night saw D&G Buses confirm some good news for residents of the Weston estate.

A statement read: "D&G will be taking on the no. 3 route from 24 April 2023, operating half hourly between Macclesfield and Weston."

The company has also announced a beefed up route of the No 38 bus.

D&G and Arriva both ran this service from Macclesfield to Crewe under the same number.

But as Arriva are exiting Cheshire East, D&G have announced an extended timetable for their version of the No. 38.

D&G added: "Regarding the no. 38 route, evening journeys between Crewe and Macclesfield have been added with D&G following confirmation of financial support from Cheshire East Council."

D&G have also been sharing the High Peak Buses No 60 to Hayfield route, however, it appears this is just a non-permanent helping out of another firm in this turbulent period of transition for local public transport.

The good news follows more Arriva buses being gobbled up by D&G earlier in the week.

The last Arriva bus will leave Macclesfield in 16 days.
