A dog lover has introduced life-saving canine courses in Macclesfield.

In a move from figures to first aid, North West forensic accountant Yvonne Jones is helping

people in Macclesfield to provide urgent care to dogs.

Yvonne will offer CPD accredited canine first aid courses to dog owners and those working with animals across the area.

Dog owners and canine professionals of Macclesfield can attend her first session later this month.

"I am SO excited to be bringing Dog First Aid to Macclesfield on 28 November 2021 from 10am till 2pm," Yvonne said.

"My course will be held at Langley Village Hall, Langley Road, Macclesfield, SK11 0DG and for the investment of £55 per person, you could learn vital skills to help save your dog in the event of a canine emergency."

"These are limited places and this course is likely to be a one off in the Macclesfield area."

The courses provide dog professionals and pet owners with vital life-saving skills, as well as all the tools and confidence to be able to act in an emergency.

Yvonne knows only too well of some of the perils our beloved four-legged best friends can find themselves in.

She is the proud pet parent of Chewie, a six-year-old pug/shitzu cross and Indiana (Jones) a four-year old crossbreed.

It is a new business venture for the dog mum of two, and the first time she has brought it to Macclesfield.

"I had been looking for a doggy business for quite some time and after attending a course

with Dog First Aid, I knew that I wanted to bring the award-winning brand to the north west and so here I am," Yvonne added.

"I started in Merseyside, but I want to bring Dog First Aid to Macclesfield as I lived in Handforth for 17 years and still had friends in the Macclesfield area.

"I want to give the dog lovers of Macclesfield the opportunity to learn the life saving skills they need to help their dogs in a canine emergency, because you cannot ring an ambulance for your dog!"

Yvonne will teach how to spot the signs of serious illness, emergency care, and what do for those moments if you can't get them to a vet in time to help.

The course covers everything from the basics of checking your pet's vital signs to how to deal with bleeding, poisoning, choking, and burns.

There is also an opportunity to practice the latest CPR techniques using a dog dummy called Cassie.

"For those who are understandably feeling a little nervous about attending a course physically at the moment, we can also offer online virtual classes in real time," Yvonne also said.

"When I first attended a dog first aid lesson, before I became a teacher, I realised that all dog owners should have access to a course like that and I'm determined to make that happen now in the Macclesfield area.

"It could mean the difference between life and death for dogs involved in accidents or emergencies."

Yvonne has completed intensive training with registered Members of the Royal College of

Veterinary Surgeons and is supported by Dog First Aid's national in-house veterinary team,

which boasts over 50 years of veterinary experience.

Dog First Aid is the only qualified UK company to offer the Continued Professional Development (CPD) accredited Emergency Canine Care™ (ECC) Course and to be approved by Trading Standards.
