Early morning fire at The Picturedrome Macclesfield
A fire occurred at The Picturedrome in Macclesfield today, just over an hour before it was set to open.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the Chestergate venue at 7:38am.
One fire engine from Bollington and one from Congleton attended to tackle the blaze.
Firefighters said in a statement: "Firefighters attended to a building fire in Macclesfield this morning.
"The fire involved some tea towels that were in a dryer. They wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel jet to put the fire out.
"A large fan was used to ventilate the property. Crews were in attendance for approximately one hour and twenty minutes.
By the time the crew left, The Picturedrome would normally be open, but given today's events, the food hall decided to shut for the day stating:
"At Picturedrome today, we've had a small contained fire in some of the folded towels used by the kitchens," they said.
"We would like to thank the fire brigade for their swift attendance and actions to prevent any significant damage.
"We will be closed today and review opening tomorrow, whist we get ourselves checked out, before getting back to normal ASAP.
"Will update you on here, so keep an eye out."
No injuries have been reported.
The venue, set to celebrate their fourth anniversary this autumn, contains cuisines like Asian and Italian.
