Macclesfield: Flats coming above empty Mill Street shop
Flats have been approved above a vacant retail unit in Macclesfield.
Last November, plans were submitted for six apartments above the former Vibe Clothing building of 42-44 Mill Street.
And while the shop floor remains empty, it appears the rooms above will be occupied soon, as Cheshire East Council have greenlit flats upstairs.
The approved plans comprises six apartments, with three two-bedroom apartments on each floor.
The original plans were approved back in February, but slight modifications were required, so new plans were resubmitted and have now only just been given the go-ahead.
A planning document reads: "It is also proposed to alter the existing ground floor shop front on to Mill Street to incorporate a new entrance door to the first floor and to insert new windows to the side and rear elevations of the flat roof section of the building and to erect a bin store area to the rear of the building."
Macclesfield Town Council objected to the plans due to a lack of parking, concerns over accuracy of the plans and claims 'window positions are not building regulation compliant'.
However, Cheshire East Planners saw no problems worthy of rejecting the plans.
Works shall take place between 8am and 6pm during the week, and 9am to 2pm on a Saturday.
