As we ease out of lockdown and head into summer, we have a deluge of excellent Macclesfield events to promote.

We like highlight a selected Macclesfield Event of the Week in greater detail, and this week we discuss a Birdwatching Course to start this month in town.

On June 8, a Birdwatching Course will start at Macclesfield's Tegg's Nose Country Park.

The course runs for six weeks – each week at a different location around Macclesfield with a choice of Tuesday (June 8) or Thursday sessions (June 10).

Get more out of your birdwatching - with the help of Tina from Nature Stuff for the informal six week Birdwatching Course.

Suitable for beginners, improvers and those wanting to learn more about bird identification, behaviour and conservation.

The course will visit different locations each week. As well as identification tips and field craft the course will cover topics such as bird habitats and adaptations.

Sessions will examine the environmental issues facing local bird populations and how wildlife habitat management practice can address them.

Maxonians will enjoy getting out into local green spaces and understanding more about our wild birds.

Those interested can simply reserve your place by booking direct on this link.

For further information or if you have any questions please contact Tina direct on 07870 804413.

More people are becoming interested in natural history and the importance of understanding and protecting our biodiversity.

Additionally, birdwatching has become much more popular during lockdown as people turned to the natural world for comfort and a sense of stability.

Being outside, in nature is also great for physical and mental health. Furthermore, birdwatching is perhaps the epitome of a mindful activity.

The course is ran by Tina Hanak, an experienced local environmental educator working previously for The RSPB, The Wildlife Trusts and The WEA.

She has volunteered with The RSPB for 15 years with the Macclesfield RSPB Wildlife Explorers youth group as Group Leader.

Tina is passionate about sharing enthusiasm for nature conservation and looking at conservation issues from alternative perspectives.

The programme will be confirmed in full at the first session - all within 12 miles of Macclesfield.

The Macclesfield course starts from £75, and you can secure a slot for yourself or a loved one on this link.
