A new app will prove an indispensable guide to Macclesfield tourists and locals.

Designed for both Maxonians and visitors, Visit Macclesfield is a handy guide to Macclesfield as businesses reopen after the COVID-19 shutdown.

It details things to do, places to eat and drink, plus details of events as they are rescheduled over 2021/2022.

The app went live following May's Treacle Market event, after being ready to go last year the March 2020 lockdown scuppered launch plans.

Visit Macclesfield has a notification system means you'll also be immediately kept up to date with major announcements.

In the near future, Visit Macclesfield will introduce money off and discount vouchers with your favourite Macclesfield shops, restaurants and takeaways.

The app was created by Macclesfield born-and-bred founder Keith Townley, who some may know from organising and supporting numerous local gigs and events in the past

"I think the town has been lacking a proper resource to support the hospitality industry", he said.

"We look forward to growing and adapting it into something so much more than it is now."

The app seeks help local businesses during these difficult times. If your business isn't listed, please email Keith via [email protected] for a free listing.

While the Visit Macclesfield website has supported our town's leisure industry since 2015, attracting over two million views, it is the app store debut for the endeavour.

The application, which has five stars on both stores, can be downloaded for Apple or Google Play.

Please consider signing up for Macclesfield Nub Voice, a questionnaire which allows you to have your say on the issues in our town, and our country.
