A unused space which was once a hive for anti-social behaviour in Macclesfield, has now become a vibrant new community green space.
Beautiful flowers, a frog habitat, and a birdbath adorns the area on Wilton Crescent.
Incredibly, the project cost no money, and was completed by a small team of locals giving up their time which took a week of work to make.
The new people's garden was opened this weekend in a ceremony by West and Ivy Ward Councillor Alift Harewood-Jones MBE.
"What has been achieved and demonstrated is a place of leisure, a passion for the environment, and a positive use of the space," said the Macclesfield Town Councillor.
"What we've seen is over 150 hours of volunteering, with bird boxes, bug boxes, edible shrubs and trees. And seats of course.
"I remain surprised that so much has been done already. And it is a contribution to a global idea, locally.
"And what is retained is a social asset to all who live, or may visit here."
This community-powered project was completed in time for #NationalVolunteersWeek, which is being held until June 7.
The site used to house hedges, where litter and drug syringes were often found.
Plants were provided by Martin Handley of Macc Plant Swap, and wood was generously donated by Henshaws Ltd.
The project was also supported by Alejandra Salmón-Suárez of Grow Macclesfield, who will create sustainable gardening projects for Macclesfield communities and local families.
A resident said: "I would like to thank all the residents who have come out to do it.
"It has been a real community project from the start.
"I didn't know most of my neighbours before this started.
"It has been great what we have achieved, people coming together for a common cause."
Wilton Crescent in Macclesfield is located at SK11 8TH.
The Macclesfield greenspace will be maintained by locals, and improvements are already on the way.
Herb planters are soon-to-be implemented at the site, again, costing no public money.
Macc Assemble were filming at the new plot for the opening.
It is part of their film for this year's Barnaby Bright.
