Macclesfield will officially 'Step into Christmas' this weekend.

The popular annual event returns on Saturday, November 29.

Expect live music, festive shopping, crafts and much, much, more.

A spokesperson for Macclesfield Town Council said: "We hope to repeat the fantastic success of last year's event and we encourage everyone to come out and join us, and to do their Christmas shopping on the streets of Macclesfield this December."

What's on?

The festivities get underway at 11am, with the Mayor of Macclesfield kicking things off, joined by the Macclesfield Youth Brass Band.

The live music continues throughout the afternoon, with main stage lineup curated by Choose Macc featuring the likes of Snowdrop, Melanie Williams and former Inspiral Carpets front man, Tom Hingley.

There will also be various walkabout acts to entertain kids and adults alike, including Chris Hickey the magician.

On top of that, visitors will be able to enjoy fairground rides and take part in ArtSpace's Christmas craft sessions in the Grosvenor Centre.

Santa Parade and Advent Window Trail

If you haven't been lucky enough to get a slot to visit Santa's grotto then don't worry, the Santa Parade will come through the Market Place at 3pm and return to the stage at 4pm.

Meanwhile, the Advent Window Trail gets underway with over 60 businesses in the town centre decorating their shopfronts with an Elmer-y theme.

You can pick up a trail map from the council's Step Into Christmas stall or from Macclesfield Library.

Christmas Makers Market

When it starts to get a little cold, head to the Town Hall for the Made in Macclesfield Christmas Makers Market.

Free to enter, you can expect to find homeware, wall art, illustrations, cards, candles, soap, ceramics, wood carvers, florists, textiles, clothing, glass, cakes, pastries, local produce, jewellery and more.

Best of all, its all made by local creatives from the SK10 and SK11 area.
