An independent Macclesfield CBD store has moved across town.

The CBD Specialist have moved from 47 Chestergate to the long-vacant unit on 19 Back Wallgate.

The business is co-owned by father-and-son duo Chris and Josh Vernon.

They told Macclesfield Nub News all about their new premises.

"It is much brighter here and we have the bonus of a second shop room", said Chris.

"We love the location, it is a little bit more out of the way but that suits us being a destination shop.

"We love meeting new customers but most of the people that come to see us are regular customers, who come from far and wide.

"As soon as we saw the unit, we knew it had a great feel about it. We love the cobbled streets and the benches outside, which we are going to clean.

"We've expanded on our product range such as offering more CBD for dogs.

"We're also hoping to introduce our own branded products such as CBD gummies, gels and balms through this shop."

CBD - or cannabidiol - is used globally to treat things such as anxiety, inflammation, and insomnia.

For shop co-owner Chris, it was used to treat his chronic back pain, and if it was not for that, he probably wouldn't be co-running his Macclesfield shop today.

CBD lacks THC, which is the part of cannabis that gets you high. As a result, you can safely get on with your life while reaping benefits such as pain relief and relaxation.

The new unit has previously housed Sovereign Security and a vape shop, but was long-empty until the family business snapped it up.

"The response to our new shop so far has been absolutely amazing", added Chris.

"For one they love how much natural light there is, and there's more space to hang out.

"Everyone seems to love it."

Despite the big move, the company will still find time to do their bit for charity again this summer.

Also new from the relocation is a larger drinks fridge, which includes soft drinks including those infused with CBD.

"We were worried about it being a bit out of the day, but we're just a minute away from Mill Street and there are lots of other independent businesses around here," said Josh.

The CBD Specialist's move comes in the same month as their three-year anniversary.

Macclesfield Nub News asked the father-and-son duo why it is better for customers to buy CBD from them rather than a national chain health store or supermarket.

"Firstly it is because we can discuss it", said Chris.

"We can talk about your medications, make sure that there are no interactions that CBD could interfere with.

"We have years of expertise with selling and using CBD products.

"We know all our suppliers, and have lab reports for all of our products, which other places don't offer.

"We specialise in having conversations and getting to know our customers."

If you can't head down to their new shop, you can call the shop 01625 408699 for delivery.

You can also order online at thecbdspecialist.co.uk for postal deliveries in the Macclesfield area.

Another new facet from the new Castle Quarter unit is the breadth of products they stock.

"We have also just started selling non-CBD wellness products like seamoss and mineral water," said Chris.

"We've also started stocking shilajit which is a natural health product extracted from the Himalayan mountains.

"We'll also be able to start selling our own homemade honeys with this shop, which can help treat skin conditions."

Chris and Josh, who live in south Macclesfield, have thanked the community for their support in their big move.

"Never mind the money, the feeling this shop has given me has been life-changing," revealed Chris.

"Seeing people's lives change and the love and respect we get is amazing.

"And if you haven't been in, come in for a chat."

The future of their former Chestergate unit is currently unknown, and has not yet been listed on the property market.

The CBD Specialist is located on 19 Back Wallgate, SK11 6LQ.
