The firm behind the Adlington New Town plan appears to be pushing ahead with plans for hundreds of homes in the parish.

Cavendish Consulting, working on behalf of Belport, have circulated information regarding proposals for a development of up to 1,275 homes on land north-west of Adlington,

Referred to as 'Adlington Park', the proposed development will occupy a 70-acre plot of land and feature retail and community spaces, as well as a new primary school.

The project's website states: "Adlington Park is a proposed new landscape-led community shaped by the character of Cheshire's market towns, parkland and countryside.

"Located north-west of Adlington Village centre, the development will be connected by green corridors, walking and cycling routes.

"It will bring together new homes, community facilities, and vibrant public spaces, creating a distinctive and well-connected place to live."

Last year, Adlington was included in a shortlist of 12 locations for a proposed 'New Town'.

Spearheaded by Belport, the plans would have seen up to 20,000 homes built on green belt land in the parish.

Following months of protests involving residents and farmers, Adlington was dropped from consideration in March of this year.

Following the reveal of what appears to be a scaled down version of the project, a consultation is now underway and will run until Monday, September 28.

Residents, businesses and stakeholders are invited to have their say, either by filling out a feedback form on the Adlington Park website or by emailing [email protected].

There is also an in-person event at Adlington Hall on Thursday, September 10, from 1pm to 8pm, with registration now open here.

Following the consultation, an application for planning permission will be submitted to Cheshire East Council under the Town and Country Planning Act.

The council will publicise the application and provide further opportunities for people to view the proposals and submit comments before considering all relevant information and making a decision.
