Five More Pre-Season Friendlies Confirmed for Macclesfield FC

By Alex Greensmith

23rd Jun 2021 | Local News

Macclesfield FC have announced they will face two more Cheshire teams, and two other north west teams as part of their backed pre-season schedule.

This is in addition to the previously revealed fixtures in the High Peak, Manchester, Witton and Staffordshire.

The first date remains unchanged, with Macclesfield heading to New Mills in Derbyshire.

However, next weekend will see a game just four days after Macc's first pre-season game.

Congleton Town FC will make the very short trip to the Leasing.com Stadium for a 3pm kick-off on July 3.

They sit at the same tier in the football pyramid as Macc, but play in a different region.

Our local rivals play in the Midland League Premier Division, which is equivalent to the North West Counties League Premier Division.

After the Witton and Leek games on July 6 and July 10 respectively, Stalybridge Celtic FC will make the 20 mile trip to Macc for July 17.

Three days later, there will be another trip to the High Peak as Macc face Buxton.

The Bucks are one tier above Macc in the Football Pyramid, being members of the Northern Premier League.

It is set to be a closely-fought affair at The Silverlands.

The final two fixtures announced are with towns who had Football League clubs after the turn of the century, at the same time as Macc.

Chester FC, who like Macc, are a phoenix club, will make the 37-mile trip here for the evening of July 27.

Another home game, will be with Stockport County, who narrowly missed out on promotion back to the Football League in the National League this season.

This game will be a real test of Macclesfeld's mettle, as they are the highest-ranked team we will face in the pre-season schedule.

The summer fixtures will still conclude with a home game welcoming FC United of Manchester.

The pre-season schedule contains six home games, and three away games.

Full details on ticketing and capacity limits are expected to be announced shortly.

It was also announced Macc's Reserves will face Congleton Reserves at 12:15pm on the same date as the first team fixture.

Macclesfield Nub News wishes Macclesfield FC well in these fixtures, ahead of their first-ever season in the North West Counties League Premier Division.
