Flood alert issued for River Bollin as more heavy rain expected to hit Macclesfield

Flooding is possible with heavy rain expected to hit Macclesfield.
The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the River Bollin catchment.
It comes amid a yellow weather warning for rain covering large parts of the country.
The Met Office website states: "A band of rain, heavy at times, across Wales, and northern and western England is expected to remain slow-moving during Saturday morning before making erratic eastward progress, eventually clearing early on Sunday.
"Whilst there is still some uncertainty in the focus for the heaviest rainfall, 20-30 mm of rain is likely to fall quite widely with some locations in the warning area seeing 60-80 mm of rain."
As a result of this heavy rain, flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Bollin, including Macclesfield, Bollington, Wilmslow, Hale and Knutsford.
"Forecast rainfall indicates river levels could reach flood thresholds overnight," reads the Environment Agency website.
"Start acting on your flood plan if you have one.
"Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses."
