A new bar is coming to Macclesfield.

This time last month, Macclesfield Nub News spotted a job listings for a new Mill Street venue called 'Panadero Lounge'.

And now, the café-bar is one step closer to opening, as parent company Lounges Limited have submitted a Cheshire East Premises licence.

18-22 Mill Street, where Poundland was before it shut in January 2022, will welcome 'Longues'.

In what has been a traditionally retail-focused unit on Mill Street, will now welcome hospitality.

It is likely the bar won't open until late November 2023, as that is when the current premises licence application expires.

Until then, the public can have their say on the licensable activities they have appleid for, which reads as follows on the Cheshire East Council website:

"LOUNGERS UK Limited have applied to the Licensing Authority for a premises licence for Lounge, 18-22 Mill Street, Macclesfield SK11 6LY for the following licensable activities:

  • 1. The sale of alcohol between the hours of 1000 and 2400 daily for consumption on and off the premises.
  • 2. The provision of late night refreshment between the hours of 2300 and 0030 daily.

"Representations shall be made in writing to address The Licensing Section. C/O Delamere House, Delamere Street, Crewe, CW1 2LL on or before the following date: 23 November 2023. Or by email to: [email protected]."

It will be quite the change for this part of Mill Street, which doesn't have many evening and late night venues.

According to their website, "Lounges Café Bars [offer] all the comforts of home but better, unless you have a chef and a bar in your lounge."

The company already runs local sites like the Sacro Lounge in Buxton, the Unico Lounge in Wilmslow and the Pico Lounge in Glossop.

The Mill Street building, was on the property market with a rateable value of £98,000.

The building has served hot food before, once housing Macclesfield's McDonalds.
