An ex-Macclesfield pub shut since the start of COVID could become two properties.

The Old Ship Inn of 61-63 Beech Lane, Macclesfield shut in March 2020.

Apartments and housing to the rear of the site had been discussed since 2014. In 2023, it will likely begin the process to become two dwellings if plans are approved by Cheshire East Council.

Both new accommodation will have two bedrooms, according to the plans.

The pub dated back to the year 1900.

A planning document readS: "The existing single storey outbuildings and extensions at the rear of the site containing the former kitchen, toilets and Tap room would be demolished.

"This demolition would also include the removal of the first-floor area which contains a staircase and small spare room.

"The proposal includes the construction of small ground floor rear extension with access into the yard area. The rear pedestrian access and refuse storage areas would be shared with the two houses that have [already] been permitted."

A decision is targeted for August, read more on the fulls plans HERE.
