Macclesfield's MP remains 'deeply sceptical' about the plans for Adlington.

Belport, the firm behind the Adlington New Town proposals, recently revealed plans for a development of 1,275 homes known as 'Adlington Park'.

Tim Roca MP, however, is not convinced by the new plans, stating that he has 'significant concerns' about a development of this size.

"I fought alongside the community against the proposed Adlington New Town for many reasons, including that the environmental damage could not be justified and the plans failed to address the significant investment needed in local roads, public services and wider infrastructure," Mr Roca said.

"I remain deeply sceptical about these latest proposals.

"Even a smaller development in this location could cause considerable damage to the natural environment while serious questions remain about the pressure it would place on already stretched local infrastructure."

Mr Roca added: "I also understand concerns that this could become an attempt to deliver a new town by the back door. Belport will need to demonstrate clearly that this is not the case.

"I will listen to my constituents and meet with Belport to examine its proposals in detail.

"Belport will need to provide convincing answers about the impact of its plans and the infrastructure required to support a development of this size. As things stand, I have significant concerns.

"I'm sure the cynical will see this as hedging, but most will understand it is about having all the facts first and then coming to a considered view."
