Macclesfield Rugby Club will be hosting drop-in COVID-19 tests today.

The Cheshire East Council Swab Squad will be on Priory Lane offering free tests.

Just head to Macclesfield Rugby Club from 9am-4pm on Wednesday only.

These are LFT (lateral flow tests), not the PCR tests which are sent to labs for processing.

LFT's will give the people of Macclesfield results in 30 minutes, so the test subject will have their results via text within two hours of leaving the test site.

The pop-up service is in response to a youth surge in cases in recent weeks.

Last week we reported there were 449 active cases in our town as of July 16.

We will digest the latest figures for our town tomorrow, which will show the impact of 'Freedom Day'.
