An upcoming exhibition at the Bollington Arts Centre will celebrate the joy of sketchbook art.

The exhibition is by a Macclesfield Urban Sketching Group, and is free to attend.

The exhibition is on each Sunday from March 31 to April 28, at the Bollington Arts Centre.

Co-organiser and local resident David Steeden said: "'SKetchers' present an exhibition by a group of friends who meet on a weekly basis at various locations throughout the SK postcode area, to sketch and share their joint love of Urban Sketching.

Eleven local artists will be exhibiting.

"Most of the works on display in our exhibition are based on the Bollington and Macclesfield area.

"Urban sketching has been popularised over the last ten years and is now a worldwide movement with its own manifesto. All our sketches are drawn on location, indoors or outdoors and capture what we see from direct observation, they are a record of time and place in various media and styles.

"This exhibition provides an opportunity to see sketches that, whilst often shared on social media, are mostly retained in private sketchbooks and not put on public display.

"Both Manchester and Macclesfield have welcoming, friendly groups that meet on a regular basis and are open for anyone to join. Please ask at the event for further information."

The Macclesfield group has over 300 members, and over 4400 in Manchester. (Image - Facebook)

Original work as well as prints and cards taken from our sketchbooks are available to purchase. There will be a selection of sketchbooks for visitors to view.

Several of the artists will be present each Sunday and will be happy to share advice, tips and hints on Urban Sketching.

The Bollington Arts Centre is located on Wellington Road.
