Did you get caught out by our April Fools?

You may have seen an article earlier about a 'treacle tap' being discovered in Macclesfield.

Unfortunately for those with a sweet tooth, this was all completely made up!

We weren't the only ones pulling pranks today, with plenty of Macclesfield businesses getting in on the April 1 spirit.

Here's a round-up of some of the best local April Fools' Day jokes.

Bollington Brewing – Green beer

The local brewery claimed they were 'going green' by changing the colour of all of their beers.

The result? Well it looks somewhat like a pint of Fairy liquid.

"In a bold move towards sustainability, we're going green. Literally," read the brewery's Facebook post.

"From today, all pints will be served green to show our commitment to the environment.

"Tastes the same, just looks 100% more eco-friendly."

Ivy Leaf – Banning alcohol and talking

What's worse than green beer? No beer of course!

The Ivy Leaf pub claimed they would be going 'completely dry'.

"That's right—no more beer, no more cocktails, just a fine selection of… sparkling water and herbal teas!" read the venue's Facebook post.

"We're also introducing a silent disco policy—no talking, only interpretive dance allowed at the bar.

"Nah, we couldn't do that to you. Pints are flowing as usual! Happy April Fools'! Now, who's thirsty?"

Lizzie-Lou Textiles – Dog fur

Textile artist Lizzie Healey confessed she had been using her pet Westie's fur instead of lambswool.

"Esme's fur is so soft and it's such a gorgeous colour, how could I not use it in my work?" she posted on Instagram.

"You've got to do what you can to cut costs in this economy."

Victoria's Closet – Closing down

Victoria's Closet gave customers a fright by saying that they were closing down.

This came with an 'all stock must go' sale, with all of everything available for free.

"Just kidding …. Nothing is free and we are never closing, don't worry!" their Facebook post added.

Silvertown Taxis – Pedal-powered taxis

Silvertown Taxis revealed a fleet of pedal-powered taxis.

"That's right – in an effort to be more eco-friendly and promote fitness, we're swapping engines for pedals," read the firms social media post.

"Our drivers have been hitting the gym, and they're ready to cycle you to your destination at an impressive average speed of 7mph (downhill, with a tailwind).

"Want to beat the Macclesfield traffic? Just hop in, enjoy the fresh air, and if you're feeling generous, give the driver a little push!"
