A Macclesfield dog with persistent skin and allergy problems has found his fur-ever home, after spending almost a year-and-a-half without an owner.

Jay the West Highland Terrier had been subject to two Macclesfield Nub News stories throughout 2021.

His illnesses led him to be without fur, which we argue, made him look even cuter!

15 months on from the poorly pup being handed to RSPCA Macclesfield, he has now found a fur-ever home with two new permanent owners.

A crowdfunder to pay for Jay's extortionate medical bills was promoted in a Macclesfield Nub News article last year, and raised £1,165. (Image - RSPCA Macclesfield)

Nicknamed by RSPCA Macclesfield as 'the Spicy Jacket Potato', the mutt became quite an internet sensation a few months after his Nub News article.

The hairless hound went viral after featuring on international animal website The Dodo - which resulted in lots of offers of homes in the USA, but he was adopted by some Brits after a long introduction with his new family.

They took the time to get to know him and let him get to know them, before we completed the adoption," said RSPCA Macclesfield Dog Fosterer Rachel White.

"We had so many lovely donations to help us with his care - we couldn't have got him to this stage without them!"

Rehoming coordinator Carmen Cole added "We're delighted to reveal Jay was adopted!"

"After one year and three months in our care. We cannot thank Janette and Malcolm enough for fostering Jay for so long, taking him under your wings, it hasn't been easy we know.

"Thank you to Cornelis and Sharon for opening up your hearts and home to our little spicy potato.

"Thank you to everyone who supported and donated towards his care. This is what we do and we are proud to be a part of it. We hope that his previous owners know how much our Jay is loved."
