Another big name is leaving Macclesfield town centre.

The rumours are true, Iceland have decided to not renew their lease on Mill Street.

Situated at 27-29 Mill Street, the supermarket will close their store next month.

A poster outside the retailer reads: "Sorry we're closing [sic]... This store is permanently closing on Saturday May 27 at 4pm."

Iceland have been contacted for further comment and news on the status of how many jobs are at risk.

It is possible that staff could move to the other The Food Warehouse By Iceland Store at the Lyme green Retail and Business Park, which boasts longer opening hours and at-the-door parking.

Iceland have followed fellow Mill Street chain Poundland in leaving Mill Street in 2023, to draw attention to their out of town Lyme Green store.

Interestingly, Iceland's closure has been revealed in the same week that frozen food competitors Farmfoods opened in Macclesfield.
