Indian bistro to become 'first-class' Italian restaurant after sale

An Indian-inspired bistro is to be turned into an Italian restaurant.
Kira in Bollington has been sold, owner Sunitha Southern has confirmed.
Having enjoyed great success since opening in December 2022, several restaurateurs enquired as to whether Sunitha would consider selling the business.
Initially rejecting these approaches, she has now agreed a sale which will see 'first-class' Italian cuisine come to Bollington.
Sunitha said: "Over the last two years, I have had the great pleasure of serving Bollington's lovely people and diners from all over Cheshire and beyond. It also allowed me to employ young people in the village. I have been able to host many private events, and I hope to have introduced many people to the beauty of our village.
"I have also been very fortunate to attract great interest in my cuisine, creating significant demand for private in-house dining events nationwide.
"My priority, however, was always Kira, as we have built an extremely loyal customer base. Over the last few months, I have had several approaches from restaurateurs asking whether I would consider selling my business.
"I initially rejected any such approaches, but the demand for my private dining & outdoor catering offerings has increased so much that I had to start considering such offers. I am delighted to say that I have now accepted an offer that will bring first-class Italian cuisine to Bollington."

Kira's final day of service will be Saturday, May 31.
A short renovation period will then get underway, with Sunitha assisting the new owners during the transition.
She added: "I would like to thank each of you who has dined at Kira, serving you has been an absolute pleasure. I would like to thank all those who helped make Kira a success, especially all the staff who played their part along the way.
"It has been a difficult decision, but I know the village will remain well served with traditional Indian cuisine through The Viceroy and Bayleaf Restaurants.
"The reintroduction of Italian cuisine to the village is, I think, a huge positive. I hope you will afford the same welcome to the new Italian restaurant you kindly gave me."
