Investigation to take place following van fire in Macclesfield

An investigation will take place following a fire in Macclesfield.
A huge emergency service presence descended on Brook Street on Wednesday afternoon, May 27, following a van fire near Maydews Passage.
Cheshire Police confirmed that a 25-year-old man was airlifted to hospital, with a nearby block of flats evacuated.
Now, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service are set to launch an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze.
A CFRS spokesperson said: "Firefighters remain at the scene of a fire on Maydews Passage, Macclesfield, which has now been extinguished.
"Crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the building earlier to tackle the fire and safely evacuate residents. One casualty has been taken to hospital.
"The fire affected a brick building of flats, a van and a nearby shipping container.
"A fire investigation will now take place to establish the cause."
Speaking earlier in the day, a Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At around 11.56am on Wednesday, officers in Macclesfield were made aware of reports of a vehicle fire in the Maydews Passage area of the town.
"Officers attended the scene, alongside colleagues from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service, and found that a van had caught fire.
"Officers assisted in the evacuation of residents from a nearby block of flats whilst fire colleagues worked on extinguishing the fire.
"A 25-year-old man has been taken to Wythenshawe Hospital via air ambulance."

Following an investigation, CFRS stated that the fire is believed to have started accidentally.
An update shared at 5pm on Wednesday, May 27, reads: "Crews are still on scene and continue to monitor the temperature in the area using a thermal imaging camera.
"Flats in the building have been thoroughly checked for signs of fire spread.
"An investigation has taken place, and this is believed to have started accidentally.
"Firefighters are expected to leave the scene shortly, and police will begin reopening the road."
