Job of the week: Community Engagement Co-ordinator at Macclesfield Museums

THE pandemic has had a big impact on the jobs market and these are testing times for those looking for a new job.

This week, we a spotlight a Freelance Community Engagement Co-ordinator role at Macclesfield Museums.

Have you ever wanted to work at The Silk Museum and Paradise Mill? If so, the Macclesfield Silk Heritage Trust have the perfect role for you.

Following their re-opening earlier this month, a three-month vacancy has opened to celebrate our town's Silk heritage.

The successful Freelance Community Engagement Co-ordinator will help test ways of developing Macc Museum's audiences and partnerships with communities.

They will build connections with underserved communities; help people feel a connection to the museum; and make opportunities for creative commissions across a range of media.

This Co-ordinator will bring experience in:

  • connecting with local groups and networks to develop new partnerships
  • engaging with local people and groups by:
– Increasing wellbeing

– Reducing disadvantage and isolation

– Strengthening skills and experience through volunteering and other opportunities

– Consulting with communities so that their ideas and views inform our plans

  • making new connections with creativity and heritage
  • communicating with local people through social media and other means
  • capturing data and evaluating initiatives to develop an evidence base to help fundraising opportunities

The lucky applicant will help curate and celebrate events such as the late Macclesfield painter Charles Tunnicliffe's 120th birthday, and the 'Art on Your Doorstep' programme.

The Freelance Fee is £3500 + VAT including expenses.

The budget for the project is £5000 + VAT.

You should be available to start immediately.
