Macclesfield's Silk Museum To Appear on TV This Thursday

A historic Macclesfield location is to appear on national telly on Thursday.
A sewing challenge filmed at Macclesfield's Silk Museum will be shown on the classic children's programme Blue Peter.
A small production crew visited the Park Lane premises for a segment in Thursday's programme.
Macclesfield Museum Curator Kathryn Warburton, was there on filming day, and had this to say:
"The Blue Peter team contacted us at the Silk Museum as a fitting back drop for a sewing and design challenge, as this building was originally built as a school of art.
"It was here students would learn all the practical skills of textile design.
"Our ribbon loom, which commercially produced labels for Dr Marten boots and five dresses from the collection will feature as the backdrop to the episode.
"We're very excited that three Macclesfield stripe dresses made the cut. Great to see that the lovely presenters Lindsey Russell and Adam B liked the dresses too."
You can catch The Silk Museum on CBBC this Thursday, May 20 from five o'clock.
It will also be available on BBC iPlayer, in case anyone may miss the Macclesfield Sewing Challenge portion of the show.
The film team for the long-running kids show had this to say: "The staff at the Macclesfield Silk Museum were very friendly and accommodating to our strange requests.
"The Machine Gallery was full of interesting artefacts and displays that provided the perfect backdrop for our sewing head-to-head challenge film!"
The date will be a special day for all the staff and volunteers at The Silk Museum and Paradise Mill as the episode coincides with their reopening date, which Macclesfield Nub News announced last week.
Earlier this month, we reported on another local name in culture appearing on national television, as Bollington musician Megan Dixon Hood appeared on TV for the first time.
