There is just a few days left to see Christ Church's 'biggest ever' Christmas Tree Festival.

The Bridge Street church has been running the festival for five years now, with the event growing in popularity year on year.

All of the trees on display have been decorated by a range of local groups, businesses and charities.

"This year is the biggest ever," said Simon Brown, 50, who has been responsible for ensuring the decorative lights are safely installed.

"There are 50-plus trees in the festival this year, up from about 30 last year."

Simon has been volunteering at Christ Church for as long as the festival has been on, but supported the building before then, providing photography.

The first two years of the festival comprised 'volunteers decorating a handful of trees.'

Simon added: "Since then, we've got the town council involved, so they sponsor the festival; it's one of their 'Step into Christmas' events.

"The trees are decorated by a full range of local groups that are all doing good for the community."

These groups include charities, sports teams, the Treacle Market, Windways Rescue, other churches, shops and workshops.

As well as the trees, there's a free craft table for kids, and a stall of wares from local shops.

What's more, on Saturday, December 20, Christ Church is holding its Annual Christmas Concert from 6.30pm to 8pm.
