We now know all the results from Thursday's local elections.

Macclesfield Nub News have broke down the results from the five polls important to our area.

Macclesfield Town Council

Macclesfield Town Council's Central Ward has a new Councillor.

Scotsman Sandy Livingstone will now sit the council representing Macclesfield's smallest form of government.

The Labour party candidate was elected with 893 votes.

The Green Party's John Knight came second with 626 votes.

The Conservative Party candidate Abhishika Srivastav came in third place with 520 votes.

This means nine of the 12 seats on Macclesfield Town Council are now represented by the Labour Party.

Turnout in Macclesfield Central was 28.38%, meaning less than a third of the Ward voted.

Bollington Town Council East Ward

Perhaps the biggest shock came from Bollington's East Ward, where Independent Helen Ellwood saw off three other candidates in a close race.

She was elected with 266 votes.

John Le Moignan of the Conservative and Unionist Party received 246 votes.

Labour's John Place had 234 votes.

Allan Williams secured 63 votes.

Turnout was the highest of our area's three council elections, with 42.33% of Bolly's East Ward coming out to vote.

Bollington Town Council Central Ward

Of the three major parties standing, it was Labour that was once again triumphant in our area. Former solicitor and psychotherapist student Judy Snowball was elected yesterday.

Judy will sit as one of Central Ward's four Bollington Town councillors after getting 464 votes.

The Conservatives Barrie Malpas was just over 100 votes behind with 355 votes. Gareth Williams of the Liberal Democrats secured 185 votes.

Turnout was second highest of the three council elections in Macc and Bolly, with 40.05% of Bolly's Central Ward heading down to the polling station to vote.

Police Commissioner

Cheshire will have a different Police Commissioner, but you may recognise him from before.

Conservative candidate John Dwyer was the inagural Police Crime Commissioner in 2012, and he has ended the half-decade tenure of Labour's David Keane.

Dwyer received 111,962 votes across Cheshire, to Keane's 99,463.

32,348 voted opted for Liberal Democrat Jo Conchie as their top pick, and 8,258 for Reform UK's Nicholas Goulding.

Turn-out was up across Cheshire at by over 4%. With 27% for the 2021 PCC elections, compared to 23.85% at the last elections in 2016.

Gawsworth Referendum

Finally, there was a referendum in small village of Gawsworth.

Residents were asked on the ballot: "Do you want Cheshire East Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Gawsworth to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"

425 voted yes, to Cheshire East Council using the Neighbourhood Plan. Just 66 opposed it. However, turnout was at just 35.05% for the vote in the civil parish.

More than half of those who voted, voted for it, so the motion will pass.

Local political attention now turns to Bollington and Macclesfield's upcoming Mayor making ceremonies.
